One owner of site, another of house?

I am considering buying a house. Its only a thought at the moment so no solicitors involved yet but I'm curious about one aspect. I've been told that the site is owned by a company (which I've confirmed via PRAI.ie) but that the house on the site is owned by an individual (company owner). Apparantely the house was built and paid for by the individual personally. Is this possible? Is there any easy way of checking this out and how would the sale of site and house be handled?

Thanks in advance

The body or person who owns the land will own the house on it.

However it is possible someone has a long lease of the house, the company owns the land. Or that they have a charge on the property, or a loan agreement with the company or, or, or...

Lots of possibilities, but in general all sales proceed the same way, it is up to the companies solicitor to provide clear title and they will have to deal with anyone with an interest.
