On becoming a Third Level Teacher

Hello,I wonder can anyone advise me.
I am currently an Art director for the past 10 years for a small firm with a background in DTP, business exhibitions ,graphics and signage.
I am looking to a career change and I am giving strong consideration to becoming a third level teacher. I have been told many times that I would be a good one.
I hold an honours degree in Fine Art and this is the area of specialization I would like to teach within. I am also a practicing Artist within the realm of digital media.
Does anyone have advise with how best to proceed down this career path?
Hdip, post-grad, MA?
And indeed, what the job prospects are like given the current economic climate.
I am also curious as to the pay scale for third level teachers and lectures.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Difficult to get 3rd level jobs at the moment given that there is wholesale cut backs in that sector and more to come!
Your qualifications and experience seems good. A PhD would be an added bonus though at third level and would enhance your payment opportunities.
 
Try teaching part-time first. You should have enough experience and qualifications to pick something up, but as one of the other posters said, jobs are hard to come by these days.

It's a major departure from what you are used to; so you should have a little experience first before you commit your time, effort and money to a new career path.
