Older partner's OAP rights

Will the older partner in a marriage get the old age pension at pension age if it is the younger partner has the contributions or will they have to wait for the contributor to reach pension age.

Would the older spouse be entitled to a Non-Contributory pension (or part thereof) which is means tested payment.

If not the spouse with the contributions should apply when he/she reaches 65/66 and claim for spouse as a dependent adult. The dependent adult portion of the Contributory pension is also meansted but this means test is not as stringent as for the non-contributory pension
