old first time buyers grant

my girlfriend bought her first house in 2000(it was not a new build) and recently discovered that she did not claim the old first time buyers grant(3,000 punts i think).Does anybody know if it is to late at this stage to claim it back?If it is not,how would you go about claiming it?

the grant was only applicable to new builds, as it was not a new build then she didnt qualify for it.

grant was only applicable to new builds, she would'nt have qualified for it, and if i recall correctly it had to be claimed within a certain period after completing the purchase.
