oil fired underfloor heating - electricity running costs?

Hi, i've just got an electricity bill for the first time since we've started using a holiday cottage that we've developed. Our electicity usage is astronomical - and we don't really have anything there to use electricity, and it's hardly been used. The woman at EDF immediately blamed consumption on our (oil fired) underfloor heating - but i've never heard before that it was likely to use loads of electicity to run the pump. Does this sound plausible? We've used 1800 units in 3 months. I can't see how she should be an expert on this and am convinced that somehow we're leaking electricity, and i've asked for someone to come and change the meter (because we're supposed to be on Economy 7 but have used no units overnight so that clearly doesn't work). Before I kick up a massive fuss about them tracking down what's using the electricity I thought it would be good to see if anyone agrees with EDF....

thanks very much!
