Hi,

Just bought the Sony E305 'Bean' MP3 player in USA last week for my son. Unwrapped it to-day and it will not charge - it seems to be 'dead'. Thought it might be the lead into USB port but another Mp3 I have here charges fine through it. Does anybody know if there is a problem with using these in Ireland? I know very little about these things - paid for it with cash and have lost my receipt - childs birthday on Monday!!! You thought you were having a bad day. Any tips or advice would be very much appreciated.

I thought you just plugged this into the USB port on your PC and it charged in 3 mins? You're not trying to charge it from a laptop on battery power, by any chance - the USB will only be powered when on mains power.

Failing that, you could bring it to a Sony Centre and ask them to check it out. Maybe they have another charging accessory that might work. Or at least they can verify if it is alive or dead!

Have you tried it on different USB ports on different PCs (which are switched on as mentioned above)? Some USB ports are actively powered and others are not so that some devices may work from the former but not the latter.
