NTL Digital box resetting itself at night

Hi

I have an ntl digital box, and have noticed most night around midnight it seems to be resetting itself (all the lights go off and then they come on one by one). This is when the box is turned off. Anyone else noticed this or know why its doing it?

As far as I know it's updating the electronic programme guide and the software can be upgraded this way too if necessary. I have their DVR and it does exactly the same thing.
 
thanks crunchie, i was thinking it was updating but didn't think ntl would be doing that on a nightly basis, never thought of the program guide :)
