Hi,
Working in UK since non 2010. I have rental income in ireland and want to make a declaration. I dont want to ask my last accountant who looked after my self employed affairs to do it for a couple of reasons but as the profits involved will be less than £15000 I reckon I could do it myself. These are my questions(after speaking to 3 different sources in revenue and getting conflicting answers for all points).
1) Can I register with ROS myself and file online or do I need to do a paper return?
2) Is it easy to do or do I need to get any details from my previous accountant- log in details etc.(she isnt relpying to my emails)
3) One source in the non resident section said that as I still have an address in dublin(I visit monthly) I can do the return myself rather than having an agent/tenant deducting 20%. Correct?
4) My uk accountant said that I need to declare rental income from ireland in my uK return and I will get credit for it. he also said I could write off 100% of mortgage interest as that is the situstion here and if I had to travel to ireland solely for checking the properties could write that off. is he correct?
Many thanks guys for your expertise
