Notifying BT to end dial-up service

Currently we have an Eircom phone line and a BT dial-up service for Internet connection.
We're considering getting one of these Eircom phone & broadband "bundles".

First question I suppose is, is this a good idea? Should we consider going to BT for the whole package?

Then, on the BT Ireland website, I can't easily find what I need to do to tell BT we want to end our contract. Is a phone call enough? Or does it have to be in writing? How much notice do we have to give them?

On average, how long does it take to get connected to Eircom broadband?

BT for phone & data is a good service. I have it 3 years with very little probs.
To cancel your dial up ring them get an email address to sent your cancellation to & keep a copy of it. I had problem with eircom charging me for internet calls after cancelling dial up subscription.
