Hi after being a non resident for 8 years I recently moved back to Ireland, I am now a PAYE employee and that is my only income, I have my tax credit cert and am being taxed correctly since I started working here again in 2020. My question is with regards my period of non residence should I be keeping any records in case Revenue were to query the gap between my previous PAYE employment in 2011 and the current employment which began in 2020? I am doing a clear out and want to make sure I have any paperwork I need in the case I needed to prove my non residency

You may wish to retain copies of your foreign tax returns for the applicable year if relevant or end of year pay slips.

Hi thanks for that, I looked in to this a little bit over the weekend and I think once I can show I was not here more than 183 days I would be classed as non resident and do not need to file unless i had Irish based income , I have flight records to show that I was out of the country for the required days
