My mother, age 82, did her hairdressing apprenticeship in the UK from 1944-1948. She then returned to ROI and set up her own hairdressing business. Unfortunately the advice she received from the local Small Business Association was to NOT 'put on the stamp'. She had thought that the UK employer had paid the 'stamp' on her behalf, but subsequently discovered this wasn't the case, and so she doesn't have any social insurance contributions.
My father, age 87, receives a relatively low teacher's pension, and this is the only household income.
Can you please advise me if my mother might have a pension entitlement.
Thank you kindly for any guidance on this.
