Nokia 6280 screen going blank

Today for the first time my Nokia 6280 decided that it would knock the screen off in the middle of me writing a text message. When the screen returned 3 or 4 seconds later, my text message was gone and the main screen was showing. This happened 3 times in a row before I gave up. I did nothing unusual at all, just plugged it in to charge.

I've just read a few reviews online which mention this problem but don't elaborate. Anyone have similar experiences?
