No New Credit Cards by MBNA?

So today my bookmarked linked to online services for MBNA did not work and I was redirected to the homepage which looked very cut down and while I could log on from there I noticed that nowhere on the page there was information about the credit cards they offer or a link to apply.

Looks like they stopped issuing new cards and only maintain existing cardholders now that they sold their Irish portfolio. I wonder how long before they stop allowing new transactions and only service accounts of those that have balances on the accounts.

Shame, I know loads of people had problems, but I was always happy with them.

No huge loss to be honest. They were one of the worst to deal with if it came to arrears

They announced they wouldn't be taking new customers for a few months but have said they will re-enter the market. Whether they do or not, who knows. Presume they want to deal with legacy issues first.
