no income self employed!!!

Haven't had any income since December 2010.

All good as far as social wefare, provided everything they needed didn't have to de-register so on Jobseekers Allowance for myself, my wife and 3 children. Can't praise them enough for being helpful and understanding.

On the other hand HSE have been a joke. Have been applying for a medical card based on this year's income social wefare, apply online takes 15 working days!!!

On their system since 31st of March and after subbmitting every thing but my underwear size we were unsuccesful. Oh, they added 2010 income to this year's social welfare, how clever... wow that took 7months what happened to the 15 day if you apply on line, so applied again on-line in October.

Got my GP to stamp a 3rd application and now I got a message today to say they will process my app asap if I submitted a letter from Revenue to say I have ceased trading.

I want to think that eventually things will pick up again and don't want to de-register so if Social Wefare can accept this why cant HSE?

Doesn't this (from citizens Information) suggest that as you have already been means tested by SW and awarded JSA that means test should suffice

"According to the HSE's guidelines, if your income is derived solely from Social Welfare allowances or benefits or HSE allowances you should be granted a medical card even though your payment is in excess of the Income Guidelines for your age and situation".

Thank you Blacksheep, your right we where means tested and our sole income from social welfare is well below the guidelines, they have put me under so much stress I have now de registered just to please them, no doubt they will come up with something else
as I said social welfare were a pleasure, certainly cant say the same for HSE 8months and still waiting is a joke especially when you apply on line and they state the process will only take 15 days!!!
