Hi
If I turn my gas boiler on the water heats but will not heat when the emersion is turned on. Worked fine up till last night. The light is coming on so it does not appear to be a fuse, any idea what might be wrong?

I presume I will need an electrician and not a plumber? (sorry clueless!!!)

TIA

Sounds like [broken link removed]may be gone. If you live in a hard water area it may be due to limescale damage. I have a similar problem myself and am contempating doing a DIY job on it (with the help of a skilled neighbour!). I've seen replacement elements in Woodies... it's just a matter of finding the time!

Is it a dual element? In other words, does it have bath and sink? Try it on bath, and then on sink.. If it works on one of them its most likely the element. If neither work, good chance its just the thermostat..

Assuming you are talking about an electric emersion switch, then its most likely the thermostat and a plumber will be able to fix it.

I had the same problem and there was like a little red button on the top of the heater. ***Turn the power off first***, then unscrew the cap and you will see it. I pressed it and it fixed the problem. I was taking my chances really, I didnt know what the button was for and why it needed to be pressed and to this day, I still dont know, but it worked anyway!

It is the re-set button for the thermostat that controls the IMMersion heater elements.
