No Health and Safety at driving job

Hi
Just wondering what ye think of the following! my partner works as a driver for a family run refridgeration distribution company, his hours driving are appalling, this morning he left at 2.30am and got home at 3.30pm, there are about 8 or 9 guys delivering milk all over the country for this company and most of them have these crazy hours, they all drive a max of 14 hours a day, their trucks are not supposed to hold any more than 3 and a half tonne and they are loaded every day to about 8 tonne, they all work about 80 hours a week and get paid for 39 hours, and the trucks are not in good condition either, this morning my partner had a blow out while being 4 tonne overweight in the back of the truck. He is at the stage where he is nervous going out in the trucks and feels someone is going to get hurt between the drivers being over tired, and the trucks being over loaded and in bad condition, I feel the conditions are totally unacceptable. Where does health and safety come into this? I know some will say he is lucky to be working etc etc but no one should have to work in them conditions its very dangerous! because of the current climate the workers are not saying anything as they get told by the employers they are lucky to have a job. I want to know where can they be reported to? or should they be reported? any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Kim,

It would help if you made your post easier to read by breaking it up in to paragraphs and using short sentences.
