No Chip On New PSC

I just received my new PSC (Public Service Card) and I noticed that
unlike my previous PSC, it has no chip.

Am I correct in presuming that this is normal
and that I will have no problems tapping on and off buses and the Luas?

If the card doesn't have a chip, it won't work on the Luas gates. It might work on the buses as a "flash pass". Contact details of who to contact are at the bottom of this

Thanks - The hidden chip suggestion seems the most likely.
An exposed chip may only be necessary for a machine such as that found at a bank counter.

I'll phone SW on Monday and report back here by Tuesday.

The chip was never used.
Cards issued in the last couple of years don't have chips.

All cards primarily use contactless technology.

I had a close look at my card. On the back there's a small black strip. Printed on this (in black) is "Data Breithe - Date of Birth"

You can also see where a contactless chip is built in. - Just over that black strip
