Hi
I am planning to go to Chicago in either April or May 2010 as I have family to visit. I have been a few times so would like to visit somewhere else also and have been thinking of Niagra falls for a few days, I do not want to hire a car but would do a coach tour. Has anyone done a coach tour around this area. I would consider flying to NY spend 2 nights and then do a tour from there for 3 - 4 nights back to NY and then get to Chicago for 5 nights. Is there anywhere else you would recommend that is within easy distance of Chicago for 5 - 6 days a short flight or coach tour. I have done most of the areas in Chicago so would like to add on something differant

If you like shopping you could go to Minneapolis (Mall of American). Would only be a short commuter flight from Chicago. If you like the great outdoors, Wisconsin is good - short drive north of Chicago.

Just a quick note .. Niagra Falls is a depressing place to stay. Lovely for a day trip, to see the falls etc, but wouldn't want to stay there. Niagra on the Lake (Canadian side) is a short drive away and absolutely lovely. Lots of restaurants/bars and vineyards. Place is famous for Ice Wine.

Totally agree with last poster. I spent one night in Niagara Falls and couldn't wait to get out of the place. If you like Casinos and total commercialism maybe it's for you. The falls themselves are nice it's what's around them that's tacky! There is a good view from the tower if you want to see it from on high without paying $100 for a helicopter ride.
Niagara on the Lake is a very pretty town and a much nicer place to spend some time.
