New Washing Machine Noise

Got a new powerpoint 1000 spin washing machine last week, took out the 4 transport bolts and the polystyrene base and the polystyrene block attached which supported the bottom of the machine.

When drum is turning, even during a wash cycle, there is a 'knock' 'knock' noise and the faster the drum spins the louder it gets, like as if the drum was hitting off something. It is not a normal noise. Any ideas anyone?

I'm waiting for the engineer to call but just wondering what it could be.

Was there a holding plate which was required to be uncrewed and removed under the top cover of the washing machine. This holds ther guts if the machine whilst in transit ?

no nothing like that, I followed the unpacking instructions to the letter and the diagrams, ie just the 4 bolts and polystyrene as mentions above.

The only thing I can think of is they gave me 4 plastic blank cover to fit where I removed the 4 bolts, but I couldn't fit these, as there are 4 thick rubber washers with a hard thin plastic cover attached, I tried pulling these off too but their very well fixed, but I can't see them being the problem tbh. they cant protude inwards very much and are on the back cover.

When I explained to agents, he said there must be something in it, whatever he meant by that.

There are ofter large plastic plugs on the inside of the transport bolts. Have these all been removed also?

If its done this since you purchased it, it could be that the machine isn't entirely level. If it has only just started, there may be something trapped in the filter - underwire or similar.

My money would be on the rubber spacers that the OP said he left in situ. hitting off the drum.

Take an apple out of the box:D Apparently these spacers have a 2" internal plastic extension internally and that was the cause. I had tried to remove these but I couldn't budge them.

Even your man who came out, big well built bloke, it took him a hugh effort to get them off. If only it was made 'clear' in the manual that they must be removed I could have prised em off somehow.

:)
