New Washing Machine - No Hot Water Feed Required

I've just purchased a new washing machine to find out that manufacturers have done away with the hot water feed pipe so there is ony a requirement for the cold water feed pipe when hooking it up.

Can I safely leave the hot water feed pipe attached with the tap turned off or should I remove it and cap the pipe in some way? Is there an attachment I can buy to do this?

I need to replace the fitting with the lever on the cold tap anyway as the lever itself fell off and I have to turn the water on/off with a pliers. I'm assuming I can buy this fitting in any DIY shop, close off the main cold water inlet to the house, drain the excess water and replace the fitting making sure to wrap plenty of plumber's tape around the joins.

Any thoughts are appreciated, especially if I'm missing something or going off track altogether.

Thanks in advance.

Yep, you're correct on everything there. just leave the hot water switched off at the valve. As long as it isnt leaking there's no problem.

mine is set up the same, hot water turned off at the tap.

seemingly the detergent needs to start in cold water, so the machine half fills with cold water first anyhow. It takes a long time for hot water to get to the washing machine, so hot water feed usually only adds about 1 cup of actually hot water to the wash! And leaves lots of hot water in the pipes going cold. its cheaper to fill with cold seemingly.
