New Sky Digibox

I have Sky for 7 years now; I did upgrade to Sky+ a couple of years back and kept the original digibox as a multiroom. The thing is that over the last number of months, the original (not Sky+) box has been giving a lot of trouble and now has basically conked out altogether. I have been on the internet and it wouldn't be too expenisive to buy another digibox (would work out much less than calling out a Sky engineer)

The question: Is there any major issue with replacing the box; would it still work on my viewing card or would I need to contact Sky to change it and would they change it if asked or is it not allowed.

I would be grateful if anybody with any experience with a similar situation could help me out.

There's no problem in getting another box all you have to do is ring them up to pair your card and box. You can ring up sky and they will send out an engineer and if need be replace the box with a reconditioned one the cost of this is about 100 euro.

Can you just swop the boxes... if you have sports of moives you need to ring them to get the card changed over, if you don't you won't need to...

I got a 2nd hand box from eBay for €12. Changed it over at the tv and when it got up and going, all the free to air channels (e.g. BBC1) were working. A quick call to Sky and they got the viewing card paired with the box and then Sky Sports & Movies were also up and running.

Jeez, if I knew it was that simple I would have done it a long time ago. Thanks for the replies guys
