New job offer retracted after giving notice

Hi all,
I have a question about breach of contract. I was offered a job which I accepted and received the contract by email. I then negotiated new terms and ammendments to the contract, which were agreed by both sides, also by email. There were a number of phone calls as well.
They requested over the phone that I hand in my notice immediately as they wanted me to start as soon as possible which I did.
They've now called me to say the job may no longer be available and have asked me to interview for another position. They won't know if the the position is available until next week.
Would this be considered a breach of contract and if so, what am I entitled to? Also, am I jeaopardising my case by interviewing for another position?
Thanks!

As you are working there for less than 12 months you have almost no rights.

Not sure if notice would apply.

If nothing has been signed then you don't have a contract. Not sure if a verbal contract/agreement stands in this country, think it does in usa though.

Do you have any evidence of them requesting you to give up your existing job? as you may have a case there if everything goes pear shape and u end up with nowt. Good luck.

if its a mutinational who cares about publicity then threatending to sue ( for loss of earings -you may end up with no job... ) may bring them to their senses

As you'd probably be on your probation period, they can get rid of you at any time, so even if you force them to be bound by the contract, they can let you go on your first day... and as jhegarty points out, there is nothing you can do about it.

Sorry to hear about your situation.
