Hi,

Internal plastering is done and my plumber gave me a large list of plumbing materials.

Can anyone recommend a good place (near Galway) to get plumbing materials or should I use the building suppliers ?

What should I consider when buying radiators ? I just have the sizes.

Is there anything else I should consider ?

Email your list to different suppliers in your area and get prices. Nearly all will deliver. Don't be afraid to haggle and get trade prices.

Are you doing a cash job as you are missing out on any VAT savings the plumber himself would save by reclaiming the VAT. While his tax affairs are not your business, you will be unlikely to get good value doing a one off purchase.

How do you haggle with these people ? I have tried and all I get is vouchers for other stuff and poor mouth stories.

Easiest way I find is get three quotes and play them off each other. So say "I can get these from another source for XXXXX, can you beat that?"

Or

"My Budget was X% lower than your quote can you do better?". You could almost expect 10 to 15% off in smallish one off purchases and for larger (expense and volume) easily look at up to 30%.
 
There are always discounts to be had regardless if your a one off or repeat customer. Do get a few different quotes and then just ask can they do better. Be nice and you will be sucessfull.
 
have a few mates plumbers and they use,dpl beside bradley motors just up from the eye cinema in galway(wellpark)also higginsis in shatalla do plumbing supplies,as the other poster said phone them with the list and ask for a price,tell them your story and you need a best price.about all you can do,
 
try Aquatech in cork, they have a web site too, and they deliver. i have found them way cheaper than local suppliers.
