The Base lite/Initiate/Base Plan work on the basis that the patient has to pay the hospital bill upfront and then claim it back from Glohealth.
There is no direct settlement system with the hospitals set up with these plans. This could be very costly and inconvenient at a time when you
would need no hassle during an illness or hospital stay.

All other plans have a direct settlement system set up with the hospitals, whereby the bill is paid directly by the health insurance provider.
Regarding Bloom Plan, as far as I know, one adult has to be on this plan in order to avail of the free kids under 3 offer.
The differences between Kick Off plan and the 3 cheaper plans mentioned above, are with Kick Off you don't have to pay the hospital bill -
it is paid directly by Glohealth.
Secondly, Kick Off plan, while it just covers public hospitals, it also has a unique feature whereby you can upgrade to a private hospital plan
called 'Kick Off Upgrade' plan(price 950pa) at anytime, outside of renewal date if you need surgery in a private hospital,
with no upgrade waiting time applied.
Normally, if you switch to a higher plan, there is a 2 year waiting time until the the extra cover can be used.
NOTE; any pre-existing conditions are subject to the 5 year waiting time, but if you have no pre-existing conditions any new illnesses are fully covered, after the normal 26 week new customer waiting time is served.
This means that you only pay for a private plan, if and when you really need to use it.
This is the first plan of its type on the market, a totally new idea, worth checking out.
