Neighbour's subsidence - will it adversely affect me?

Hello,
It was pointed out to me this week that my neighbour (the other half on my semi) has been in dispute for the last five years with the builder and the council over who is responsible for the subsidence of his garden which is moving about 2 inches a year. A wall several feet below is badly warped and needs supporting but no one will claim responsibility.
I'm worried/annoyed about this because when I bought my house 3 years ago I knew nothing whatsoever about this.
I'm wondering whether I could be adversely affected in any way, such as insurance premiums or future risk if the problem is not addressed?
Thanks.

Do you believe that information about the problem was deliberately with-held from you by the vendor or is that your surveyor didn't pick it up?

It depends on what the problem is, but the concerns you have are real and valid.

Well, I suppose the vendor could have pleaded ignorance but I knew nothing about this and the surveyor didn't pick it up. Considering a neighbour two doors up knew all about it, it stands to reason that the vendors must have been aware of the problem.
What should I do now?
