Hello all,
Losing my aab posting virginity here!
I'm building my house at mo, here is a quick rundown of my ideas followed by my troubles. My house is at footings aalready so some things cannot be changed.
Building a 200mm cavity, pumped with bead. Using a qlite block above dpc on all internal walls. Putting 150mm insulation in floors(not polyure vh!) beneath ufh and a slip of same up walls to prevent contact with screed, to be covered by skirting and floor finish. I am going to close cavities at windows by screwing j bead to the window frame for the slab to sit into and sticking the slab to the inner leaf, with an airtight membrane inside it, to maximise insulation at this point, walls plastered. Going to use qlite, cut lengthways, as cavity closure for wallplate to be screwed to. Planning to use 200mm rafters to max insulation at roof level also. House to be very airtight with mvhr.
My problems arise from not having enough knowledge myself and indeed nor does 99.9% of the country. I cannot source wall ties that are certified and not ssteel, I don't know the best insulation products for floor, walls and roof that don't decay and are breatheable. Is there sills that can reduce thermal bridging etc. Do I have to spend half my mortage on tglazed windows. And for a house that is rated good on paper(deap not phpp) can I get a heating system at low cost after spending extra on insulation.
Sorry for length of post, may have left details out, enlighten me please. Go easy on my ideas
