I have heard you need to register your properties by 23 November ahead of paying the tax next year.
I paid the tax last year.

Is it true that you need to do this?

Doesn't make any sense to me.

Yes, if doing so online. See the property tax forum for further details on this.

.

You mean you paid it this year - 2013?

Where did you hear about the the deadline of 23 Nov?

I live abroad have tried many times to contact revenue to no avail except to the initial reception where they put you in another queue was advised by one agent to email a request for id and pin but since i have been told they are not replying to emails what are the penalties if i wait till my return in feb 2014 i paid online by cc previously.
I do not have an id or pin been in the queue to request keep getting cut off after an hour on hold .

update

[FONT=&quot]got through to reception again operator checked with his supervisor they are enforcing penalties he couldn’t tell me what they will be after the date he tried to route to the queue again this time due to the volume it won’t take any more calls hence the volume of calls so i guess it penalties.
Seems a bit odd that the auld JD doesent bring this up on his show

I too live abroad and had no ID or pin and after waiting quite a while on the phone I got both those and registered for the tax. Why don't you try to phone them at a non peak time, rather than run the risk of penalties. Because as far as I can tell, if you don't do it on time, then you are liable to a surcharge on all your income tax.

Finally got through to them today after over an hour continually phoning and reply being try again later. However they are open 8 to 8 today and tomorrow and the person I spoke to said best times to ring were 8am, between 13.00 and 14.00 hrs or otherwise after 17.00 hours

However I would also email them as I did get a email reply today to a email I sent a week ago.

Filed my lpt return last year without a pin or property id as i never got one, paid through the post office in cash with my pps no.

Never received anything about the lpt since, was expecting to get something.

Anyway tried to go on the website now to do the same, but you can't file without a pin and property id, have i missed something ? can i not register for 2014.

What to do now, i intend to do the same as last year and pay through the post office in cash........

It is exceedingly important that you not only pay it, but that you file. Do it online. Just telephone revenue for the PIN etc.

Otherwise you might be liable for a tax surcharge on all your income. I think you're actually past the filing date now, but I'm sure it will be ignored if you're only a few days late.

The is no getting through to the lpt line, you can't even go on hold......and by the the way deadline is 5pm tonight, so i just emailed them......

What was the point in filing with all your details 6 months ago, and being able to use your pps no. and now having to do it all again ? Could they not just have worked off the details previously provided........pretty shoddy operation if you ask me.

That money you paid could be sitting in "limbo" somewhere and not allocated to your property. Maybe they don't have you or your property on their system. Did you get an LPT1 form in May? Did you fill it in?

No i didn't get a form in may, i did what i was required to do file my 2013 lpt method of payment online, via my pps no. as i had no property id.

I have a receipt for payment from the post office,if the money is sitting in limbo that is not my problem i did what i was required to do.
