Need to move ride-on mower from one side of the country to the other ...

Hi All

Have just purchased a second-hand ride-on mower in Co Clare and need to get it to Kilkenny. Have priced van hire and its €130 per day. Add petrol and dinner etc on to this and its getting fairly expensive. Don't have a hitch so moving by trailer isn't an option. Just wondering is there any courier companies out there that would move this. It is currently in a private house so wouldn't be palleted or anything.... Thanks.

I thought everybody had a friend with a van! A couple of suitable planks as a ramp, and you would be sorted. Given the way the economy has slowed down, a lot of "white van men" have plenty of free time. Ask around among your neighbours; if that doesn't work, suggest the vendor ask his or her neighbours.

I suppose you have ruled out driving it home (I once drove mine home from the place it was serviced; it made 800m seem like a long distance.)

If there's a motorcycle shop near you, ask about motorcycle recovery services - they'd be ideal for moving a mower for you!
