We have fitted wardrobes in all our bedrooms. They are all built into the recesses in the bedrooms which makes them very deep and very high. The problem is that there is a lot of wasted space as there is only a rail running across full width and shelf running along top.
I am looking for something or someone that can maximise the space available inside the wardrobe. Im thinking along the lines of the sliderobes but with the sliding doors etc i.e using things like slide out shoe rails, drop down rails etc..
I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.
There are several options available to you. What ever you like really.
You could fit drawers into the bottom of the unit. This space is usually wasted anyway. Drawers are roughly 220 so you'd have plenty of room for two or three. Another shelf on top of them then.
Go to any Timber machine shop with the measurements and they will do up the cuts for you.
Have a look at the ikea pax/komplement system (on their website) to get some good ideas. If your wardrobes are in multiples of 500mm wide you might even be able to use their stuff.
I agree with eamon123456. We got the ikea pax wardrobes recently and got the shelves, baskets, hangers, side rail hooks, dividers etc and they utilise all of the space. You could also invest in some baskets of different sizes for the deeper units to get the most out of them without having to change them completely.
Have a look here [broken link removed] for some ideas. They did our bedrooms and a study/office area. I was very impressed with the quality and finish of the work. They may not be able to help you with what your looking for , but it could help your planning.
