I am looking for somebody really reliable and sincere to help me with cleaning my house,I really don't know how to go about finding someone I can trust. Any suggestions?

Hi Nancy

There are employment agencies who specialise in this area. I have no idea how good they are.

But the best source would be to ask some of your friends or neighbours.

If you check noticeboards in local shops you will often see signs up from people looking for cleaning/ironing, etc. When you phone them ensure that you are satisfied with the references.

You should ask around too, make it be known that you're looking for one among your friends and family.

An aunt of mine got a job that way, her sister heard that someone was looking for a housekeeper and knew right away who to reccommend it to.

Where are you based? What hours/days? what kind of work, precisely? does it includes minding children-- ? cooking?
I have soemone in mind who would be good--but she'd need to know answers to these questions before applying-- But perhaps you have already found someone?

Hi there read your thread, I was looking for a house cleaner for my elderly parents a while back and I found it a little difficult to get one that I wanted so I came up with a solution, I build website from time to time and have lots of spare time so a made a little search tool, [broken link removed] its not a business just an online tool and free to use, you can search cleaners in dublin, my parents current cleaner is "Rejane", she is very reliable but she will only be in the country until May 2009.

Thanks Davido for setting up that site. I know of someone who's reliable & responsible and trying to get a private cleaning job so I've sent her the link. She's delighted.

Great stuff mvron, I am glad it's helping out. I see from today already that nearly a 100 cleaners have registered and are searching and sending message to potential employers.

"Spread the word" as they say, that it's the place to go for a cleaner or a cleaning job in dublin.

And if anyone has any feedback for me or anything i could add or take off the site that would make it a bit better just let me know. Again for the readers of this thread the service is free for all and can be found at www.housecleanerdublin.com

:)

Do your parents have a home help? Some home helps would be interested in some extra duties and are already used to dealing with the more mature age groups.
If not perhaps your local Home help organiser or public health nurse would be able to point you in a direction
