Does anyone know where I can submit this application? Cant find much online

If you mean employer paid medical insurance for you, on which you were charged BIK but which you did not get a corresponding tax credit, then such claims ( up to 4 years) go to your tax district. You may be able to do this on PAYE anytime on ROS. You would need the details of what the employer actually paid in medical insurance for you.

Hi Graham, yes thats the one exactly.

How do i go to my local tax district? sorry but I am totally new to dealing with any tax issues..

You should have received a certificate of tax credits. Read t carefully. Your local tax district should be listed in it somewhere.

Alternatively, go to www.revenue.ie and on the front page, there is a contact lcoator, enter your PPSN and you will find out what you need.

The BIK would have been charged at your marginal rate. Medical Insurance itself is relieved at the standard rate only (20%). Assuming all other tax matters are even and assuming that oyu have sufficient tax paid in the year to claim against, then you should get back 20% of each the amounts above which would come to €340. [ (239+656+746+59)*20% ]

Please excuse me for jumping in here with my own question.

I am paying BIK for health care directly from my monthly salary. Broadly speaking - are you saying I can claim 20% back?

Thanks

If the employer pays medical insurance for you then that is charged on you as BIK at your marginal rate. However medical insurance is tax deductible at 20% so you are entitled to a deduction at 20% for that amount. Check you r Tax Credit Certificate to see if a deduction is being granted. If not then you may have a claim. If you pay medical insurance directly yourself the it is tax relieved at source through TRS , i.e. you pay the medical insurer 80% of the premium.

Thanks Graham/Naked Lepper, I'm pretty sure I'm due back a few hundred EUR.

Thanks for all the replies folks
