I am thinking of applying for affordable housing. I work and am a single parent. Am I restricted as to what type of home I can get? As in number of rooms/value/location?
I don't want to end up buying a 2 bed place and then have to sell in a few years if I need more space, if I buy it will be with the intention of it being my home long term.

How is the rent on the property calculated? Is it by the persons income or based on the value of the property?

Thanks

Hi Ailbhe,
If you go to your local councils website you should see what options are available.

You dont say where you are but for example, google South Dublin County Council and on the home page of the website is a Housing button - click that and you get to relevant page with links for different available options.

Hi. I now this thread is 3 years old but I must reply. Affordable housing is a mortgage so its not rent. Also I tell you now that I hope for your own sanity you did not get involved in this scheme. It is like a prison.
