My friend has 60K in AVC's to invest in an Active Retirement Fund. Does anyone have any idea which are the best option available to him he is 60 years old. He wants the capital to be guaranteed and the best return he can get in these times of uncertainity!!! He is looking at the Bank of Ireland Guaranteed Evergreen Fund and the AIB Cash Fund. Many thanks

I presume you mean Approved Retirement Funds or ARFs. Personally I'd avoid the Guaranteed Evergreen fund as it's stockmarket linked and not really suitable for someone with a low tolerance for risk. He can get good deposit rates via an ARF at the moment.

The banks can sell ARFs but they will only offer one company, not a choice. Get a recommendation of a good broker from someone you trust. Otherwise, there are several brokers active on this board.
