need for a water softener

I'm currently building in a hard water area and was planning to buy a water softener to supply the dishwasher/washing machine/showers/geothermal for DHW.
My question is if you only use a 30/40 degree setting on your WM and use a 50 Bio on your dishwasher is there a need for a water softener?
The geothermal unit is limescale resistant and have been told by vendor that softened water is not required. Also since we have 2 babies we can't use softened water in the kettles and i don't think i would if i had a unit installed anyway, the showers will be worked off the geothermal with an electric as a back up

maybe i missing something here but to me i think its a waste to install?

I live in a hard water area and when the salt runs out in the unit it is very noticable when having a shower. You will use a lot more soaps/shampoo if the water is not softened. If you have any copper pipe you will get a buildup of limescale in the pipes not to mention your hot water cylinder. You can bring in one supply to your Kitchen/utility for drinking purposes which is not going through the softener.

that was my plan..but then thought it might be a waste when i don't reach high temperature with the appliances..thanks, i think i will get one on line for half the cost of getting one installed from a supplier
