need a new tv

My poor old realiable tv has gone to the great tv heaven in the sky.. which leaves me with the problem of replacing it. but times have changed since i got my old tv. words like "wide screen" "plasma" "surround sound" and many more that i cant spell either.
Help me
any advice would be appreciated.. in a hurry. where to go for a good deal.

I reccomend DID. They double the difference if you show them evedence of a cheaper price within 7 days. I have done this a few times there are no questions or forms. They just hand you the money.

I have consistenly gone for sony for the last few pruchases and find them excellent.

One brand is completely CRAP and that is "powerpoint" avoid at all costs.

Rainyday has suggested over the last 2 years that widescreen is a waste of space (literally and figuratively) and after two years of wide screen I must admit I coming around to his view point.
