Nat. Gas or Wood Stove?

Does anyone have a waterford stanley "oisin" stove - and if so, how do you find it?
I'd love to put one in - we are building a family/dining room onto side of bungalow. We have piped nat. gas fire in sitting room but I have always longed for a "real" fire so this is my chance. Hub is trying to put me off though, saying get gas version as wood - it will take too long to heat up, storage of fuel issue, etc. However, the stove would be a supplementary heater and surely it wouldn't take that long? also, surely the cost of fossil fuel will only go up in the future?
any advice/opinions?
