allo,

i've just gotten sale agreed on a house, and i have a quick question. the EA is asking me what name is to go on the deeds to the house, and i'd just like to know is it possible to have the house in 2 names. my partner and i aren't married, so we want to be on an even footing just in case anything ever goes wrong.

where do i stand on this? is it possible to have 2 names on the deeds, kinda like co-ownership? we're both going to be contributing equally to the mortgage, so it makes sense that the house is in both names.

ta,

d.

If you are both contributing then I cannot see why you would not have both names on the mortgage and property deeds. Like any unmarried couple or otherwise unrelated (in law) joint purchasers you probably should have a legal agreement governing the purchase in case you split up.
