But an amateur investor would still have got caught out and probably panicked when all the bad news hit the headlines (about VW) and sold his shares, especially one overly concerned about avoiding alcohol, tobacco and betting stocks. Whereas a professional fund manager is more likely to sit out the negativity and not sell at the bottom.
