mowing the lawn

I was told you should mow the lawn from St Patrick's Day on, and you can stop at Halloween (not sure how people without these Irish holidays in their calendard judge it). But with Spring being so late this year mine doesn't seem to need it quite yet.
 
Thanks. Just looks like it needs a mowing now. Hate to start it too soon!

Iv done it twice already this year

didn't get it cut late last year because oft the weather so it was quite long anyway.
I cut it down to the lowest on the mower last week in a hope that the sun will come out and dry up the moss.

Do not if the grass is wet or very damp you would be best living it to the afternoon if poss and keep the blades of your mower high for now
 
Mine has been cut two and a half times. We got distracted on Sunday and decided to eat 'al fresco' that day as the weather was so good. Hence the 'half' and no more mowing that day
