I'm considering moving to the North and, rather than going the broker route, have found that HSBC have the best rates.
I'll be moving in 4-6 months time and have a 20% deposit saved. In reading about improving your chances to get a mortgage, I've read that you should be with your bank account as long as possible. I have a bank account with a different back in the North for the past 10 years but was considering switching to HSBC to make the process easier, i.e. they already have my statements, etc.
Would they penalise you for doing this?
Also, do I have to be on the electoral register in the North as, otherwise, I wouldn't show up on any credit checks?
