Moving an ESB meter

I want to move my ESB meter from under the stairs to the hallway. However, my electrician says that the ESB will only move it to an outside location. Does anyone know if this is truly the case?
 
Yes if you look up the ESB website the details are there. There is no advantage to them to move it unless it is going into an outside cabinet
 
€300 it cost for a meter move. That was from inside to outside.
 
EUR 397 is the latest cost. Verified today with ESB Networks, as I'm doing this shortly.
 
397 to mov the meter. What they dont tell you is that the old meter has to be locked first. There is a charge for this. When they did it in my house they also charged me to unlock the new meter once it was installed. Got the bill for that a year later!
 
Just over a year ago I got my meter moved, yes it did cost about 3-400 but I got it moved to another location within the house. They did put up a fight about it being on the inside but I won in the end. good luck.
