Motor Insurance

To insure my boyfriend costs 800 extra, to insure a 'partner' costs 80 extra with a particular insurance company. A broker has called him a 'common law spouse', and i have qualified for the 80 under this broker definition. But I dont live with my bf. Is this legal / illegal ?

The term 'common law spouse' has no legal meaning in this country. I would double and tripple check this.

'common law spouse' is a british term, the closest thing we have is co-habbiting.

Maybe someone else can explain further.
