Motor Motor insurance categories

Hi,

I have heard mention from insurers of the concept of motor insurance categories. I've also seen them mentioned on UK sites where there seems to be an industry wide categorisation scheme. Does this also exist in Ireland? Is it possible to look up the insurance category of a particular vehicle or do the industry players treat this as proprietary information?

Thanks, it's a start anyway as it's probably a good rough guide even if the details are different.
