Mortgage Protection Insurance Query

Hi

I too have a mortgage protection insurance query.

I have a mortgage out in my own name. My partner lives with me and although his name isnt yet on the mortgage he pays half each month.

It looks as though in the new year he may lose his job. If he does we will struggle to pay the mortgage a bit. I know I can take Mortgage Protection Insurance out in my name but my job is currently quite secure. Is there anything we can take out which would help us in the event that my partner lost his job, I assume he is unable to take MPI out as his name isn't on the mortgage?

I presume its actually mortgage repayment protection you are referring to. Did you actually take this out or are you getting mixed up with life assurance which is often referred to as mortgage protection?

If its repayment protection then no he cant as he isnt named on the mortgage and has no liability towards it.
