I applied for Mortgage Interest Supplement in August, after losing my job. I filled out the large amount of paper work required, went to my mortgage lender and got copies of all the original mortgage application and pay slips from 5 years ago. (process took me over 2 weeks as mortgage company has a 10 day response time)

I filed all my paper work and was approved for €600 for 3 months starting the 30 Sep, so I would receive payments sep, oct and nov.

Today I reveive a letter telling me I have to fill out all the paper work again and get copies again of all documents and reapply.

Can social welfare make me apply again, they already advised they would help me for 3 months, I have made a budget according to this. It's very short notice to infrom me on the 14th October I won't be getting a cheque at the end of the month. Has anyone else received a smiliar letter today?

You can be asked for updated information from time to time, as all claims can be reviewed at regular intervals.

Did the letter state that your payment would cease now or are they requesting information to review your claim before the end of November when your current claim ceases?

the letter said if I didn't complete the paper work in 14 days payment would stop (letter was dated 7/10/09 and I received it 14/10/09!)

I completely understand they need to review and ensure I am using the cheques for my mortgage, I just find a review very unusal after 1 payment and asking me to complete a review 14 days before a payment is due, seems like bad partice.
