Hi

The search function does not appear to be working for me. I have been unable to find an answer to my query online.

Can anyone advise if mortgage interest relief can be backdated? Not talking about backdating the increase which was just granted.

I look forward to your responses.

Thanks

Munsterman

Yes it can be backdated, there is a form which you can get from revenue.ie and this needs to be completed

When was the TRS system introduced and where is the Form to retrospectively claim the interest relief?

I'm not sure when it was introduced but the form is on the revenue website for retrospective claims

Hi

Thanks for your replies

Just got through the Revenue TRS department 1890 46 36 26 if anyone is interested.

You can claim back but you need to complete 2 forms:
1 TRS 1 - Initial Mortgage Interest relief application
2. TRS P - Claiming prior years interest relief.

To claim back you will need
1 Nominate a bank that relief will be paid into.
2 Mortgage no.
3. Certificate of interest for each year. including any top-ups.

Hi there,
We claimed back TRS - the back dated will be paid in lump sum, however will take about 3 mths to get it.
