Mortgage cleared - Title deeds and collection from bank

Hi,

I recently paid off my mortgage. AIB have written to me to ask where I want the Title deeds sent. They have given me an option of 1. An AIB branch for collection or 2. A Solicitor (I don't have one).

Can I just ignore this and AIB will have to store the deeds for me or do I need to take possession of them?

They will most likely just keep badgering you until you do something. Most lenders don't want to hold onto deeds that they no longer have any interest in these days. Why would they?

I'd be looking to get these into my hands as quick as possible.

What happens if in 10 years you wany to sell and AIB have lost them....that's on you not them.

Get them and store them safely letting your wife/husband/ whatever know where they're kept.

We have paid off our mortgage at the end of September. Will be picking up the deeds as soon as we can and then will decide what where to put them. Does anyone have any suggestions?
