I heard recently on the radio (last week) that there are now some mortgage brokers who pay the transfer fees for switching your mortgage to another bank......anyone heard about this or was my ears playing tricks on me???

No - this has been the case for a good while now. As far as I know at least UB and NIB (?) cover or subsidise remortgaging legal fees with the caveat that they will claw them back if you remortgage again with another lender within 5 (?) years. Other lenders may offer something similar. If you can find a competitive lender (cheaper than your current lender) who does this then it may be worth moving. Always crunch the numbers to get a clear idea on the savings involved though.

REA work on a fee basis and refund all the mortgage commission to borrowers using the Homebuyer Package. Perhaps you heard one of our ads? ;)
