money transfer from irish - uk bank+vice versa

A friend of mine is moving over to Ireland in a few weeks and will be opening a bank a/c here.

However, she will need to be able to transfer money to her uk bank, until her various direct debits/gas bills etc are paid.

Just wondering is it possible to do this easily from a bank here ?
could it be done on on-line banking ?
what are the charges likely to be?

Have a search for "IBAN transfers" here; it's been discussed in detail a number of times.

remind them not to just use their uk bank to send money as their rates and fees are rubbish, they should also compare them to currency.ie and xetrade
