Having invested in bank shares when they could not possibly go any lower (but they did), I'm looking for a secure investment with some returns. My local bank is trying to sell me a tracker bond:
3year11month term,
100% "secure"
40%tracking S&P500, Nikkei,Eurostoxx,
25% in bonds
35% in commodities
60% of growth in the above, returns capped at 33%
and as a "bonus", a further sum equal to 1/3 of my investment can go into a 5.5% interest-bearing account for a year.
Sounds reasonable - is there anything else out there, mid-term, secure, which would produce a better (say 100%, uncapped) returns?
Any advice would be welcome.
